Inappropriate statement

A woman from BBC called my work yesterday to ask if there are any Japanese workers.

One of our managers who picked up the phone said "Yes." which means I am the person. What BBC wanted was that interviewing the Japanese who are from the affected areas to get their point of view. My manager said to her "Well, luckily one of our staff is from the other side of Japan so her family are all okay." And then what BBC said was:

Oh.... It's good for "you" but it's not good for "us"! Well, thank you then"

:O

What is that supposed to mean!? So inappropriate and rude. I know that she just wanted to do her job. She wanted to get a scoop but it's still unbelievable and immature. If I was the person who took the call I would make a formal complaint to BBC.

Do you not realize how precious our everyday life is? How comfortable it is to sleep in your bed? How warm it is in your own place? Those people are sitting down on the cold hard floor in shelters now. Not everyone can have even single blanket. Those people lost their loved ones. Those people lost their houses. They are jeopardized to be exposed to radiation but thy cannot go anywhere because they have no gas in their cars.

This disaster for BBC/the BBC worker obviously is somebody else's problem then. We have to remember that this can happen to everyone across the globe too.
